PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE REQUEST FOR ALLEY CLOSING


Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Town Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, at 5:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, on Monday, June 10, 2024, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, to consider the request of Ronald E. Houseman, Jr. and Mark Alan Harman, Trustee of the Mark Alan Harman Trust, to vacate an undeveloped portion of West Pine Street extending between North 16th Street and North 18th Street. The plat of the proposed alley closing can be viewed at the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for legal holidays. Citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting to express their views or submit comments by regular mail, telephone or email at sherryc@wytheville.org. Individuals desiring to attend the meeting and requiring special accommodations are requested to contact the Municipal Office at least two days prior to the meeting by calling (276) 223-3349.

SECOND PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE


The Town of Wytheville will hold a public hearing on May 28, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Town Council Chambers of the Wytheville Municipal Building located at 150 West Monroe Street Wytheville, Virginia 24382, to solicit public input on local community infrastructure and housing needs in relation to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for the Monroe Street Housing Development Project, to be submitted to the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).  The Project proposal will include the following activities: Funds will be used for site work and infrastructure associated with the development of multi-family housing units to be built and managed by Open Door Community.

         Information on the amount of funding available, the requirements on benefit to low- and moderate-income persons, eligible activities and plans to minimize displacement and provide displacement assistance as necessary will be available. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to comment on the Town’s past use of CDBG funds. All interested citizens are urged to attend. News Release


Due to the Memorial Day holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Monday, May 27, 2024, will be made on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. The normal collection scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, 2024, will be made on that day. 

The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty on Monday, May 27, 2024, due to the Memorial Day holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Tuesday, May 28, 2024. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off.

NEWS RELEASE


Due to the rain forecasted in the area on Tuesday, W-L Construction anticipates beginning the process of paving and milling along Grayson Turnpike on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. The duration of this operation will begin at 7:30 a.m. until approximately 6:00 p.m. The area that will be affected by this project extends southward from West Main Street to the Town of Wytheville’s southern corporate limits at Reed Creek. Motorists should expect to encounter traffic control operations in this area during the posted hours, so please expect delays when traveling.

Floor Refinishing

The basketball courts, walking track and aerobic studio will be closed May 20-28 while we refisnish the floors. Bronze pass plan holders can use the fitness area for walking during this time period. Thank you for your patience as we complete this projects to optimize facility use.
