The Town of Wytheville utilizes the OpenGov/Viewpoint Cloud Software for Town applications and permits. This platform is used by multiple departments including; Building, Planning & Zoning, Engineering, Public Utilities, Administration, Public Works, and the Fire Department. It is a web-based system that allows the public to apply for and track applications from the comfort of their home or business at any time, and it is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.

Planning Commission Meeting
The Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, will hold a public hearing on the proposed issuance of a bond by the Town of Wytheville. The estimated maximum amount of the bond is $800,000. The proposed use of the bond proceeds is to pay the costs of capital improvements to the Town’s wastewater facilities. The public hearing which may be continued or adjourned, and at which persons may appear and present their views on the proposed bond issue, will be held at 5:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, on Monday, July 22, 2024, before the Council in the Council Chambers, Wytheville Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia. Citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting to express their views or submit comments by regular mail, telephone or email at sherryc@wytheville.org. The Town of Wytheville will accept applications for permits to hunt on Town-owned land on Sand Mountain. Applicants must be Wythe County residents. Applications are only available on the Town’s webpage through the OpenGov online permitting system at www.wytheville.org. The application fee is $25. The Town issues a maximum number of 50 hunting permits each year. When the number of applicants exceeds 50, the permittees will be chosen by lottery. The deadline for submittal of an application is 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024. Permits will be issued as soon thereafter as practical. Due to the Independence Day holiday, the refuse collection in the Town of Wytheville for Thursday, July 4, 2024, and Friday, July 5, 2024, will be made on Monday, July 8, 2024. The normal collection scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2024, will be made on that day.
The Town of Wytheville’s Recycling Center located at 1025 South Third Street will not have an attendant on duty on Thursday, July 4, 2024, or Friday, July 5, 2024, due to the Independence Day holiday. The attendant will return to assist citizens on Monday, July 8, 2024. Please note that when an attendant is not on duty, the Recycling Center's gates are closed, and items cannot be dropped off.
