Joint Industrial Development Authority Vacancy


The Town Council is currently taking applications for  a vacancy on the Joint Industrial Development Authority. Applications must be completed on the Town website on the OpenGov portal at https://wythevilleva.viewpointcloud.com/. All applicants must complete a background check form that is available at https://www.wytheville.org/docs/general/071922-Town-Committee-Board-Packet-and-Background-Release-Forms.pdf. The due date for all applications is Monday, June 16.

Town Committee Vacancies


The Town of Wytheville currently has vacancies on the Board of Zoning Appeals, the Wytheville Economic Development Authority, the Tree Advisory Committee, and the Recreation Commission for a youth member. Certain Committee/Board/Authority appointments require financial or real estate disclosures and customized trainings provided by the Town. Any Town of Wytheville citizen desiring to serve on a Town Committee/Board/Authority should apply on the Town website (www.wytheville.org) through the OpenGov portal, https://wythevilleva.viewpointcloud.com/. Applications for Permits to Hunt on Town-owned Land on Sand Mountain


The Town of Wytheville will accept applications for permits to hunt on Town-owned land on Sand Mountain. Applicants must be Wythe County residents.  Applications are only available on the Town’s webpage through the OpenGov online permitting system at www.wytheville.org. The application fee is $25. The Town issues a maximum number of 50 hunting permits each year. When the number of applicants exceeds 50, the permittees will be chosen by lottery. The deadline for submittal of an application is 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2025. Permits will be issued as soon thereafter as practical. Budget Appropriations FY 2024-25


Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the Town Council of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as possible, on Monday, June 23, 2025, in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, to consider appropriations to the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget in order to amend departmental budgets due to unexpected expenditures during the fiscal year.

The proposed budget amendments can be viewed at the Municipal Building, 150 East Monroe Street, Wytheville, Virginia, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., except for legal holidays. Citizens are encouraged to attend the meeting to express their views or submit comments by regular mail, telephone at (276) 223-3333 or email at angelap@wytheville.org. Individuals desiring to attend the meeting and requiring special accommodations are requested to contact the Municipal Office at least two days prior to the meeting by calling (276) 223-3349.

20th STREET BRIDGE PROJECT TRAFFIC DETOUR 2025


Please be advised that beginning April 29, 2025, through November 7, 2025, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, there will be a traffic detour in place in the area north of the 20th Street bridge. During the posted times, this detour will restrict traffic flow to the intersection of South 20th and West Jefferson Streets. All residents with homes located within the restricted area will still have access to these dwellings. All other traffic will be restricted to the area. The Town apologizes for any inconvenience. Town of Wytheville Mowing Regulations


The Town of Wytheville would like to remind property owners of their obligation to the Town’s Mowing Ordinance in the Town Code: Chapter 12. Solid Waste Collection and Disposal, Article VI. Nuisances on Premises, Removal of Weeds, Mowing, Etc., and Clutter, Division 2. Removal of Weeds, Mowing, Etc.

The ordinance was amended to remove the language of only having to mow three (3) times per season beginning April 1 through September 30, and, in Chapter 12. Section 12-92, of the Town Code states, “It shall be unlawful for the owners of property to permit grass, weeds and other foreign growth to exceed the prescribed height of 12 inches, except: (1) if a property is located in an A-1 Agricultural Zone that has been set aside for agricultural operations as defined in Chapter 12. Section 12-76 and used for the production of hay, feed crops or similar agricultural uses; (2) if a property owner has applied and been approved for a mowing exemption as outlined in Chapter 12. Section 12-94; or, (3) if a property owner has applied and been approved for using the property for nontraditional landscaping purposes as defined in Section 12-93.” The Code of the Town of Wytheville, Virginia, is available online for viewing at https://library.municode.com/va/wytheville.

The Town would like to remind citizens that it is unlawful to dispose of grass and other vegetative debris on the sidewalks and streets of the town. The Town of Wytheville appreciates the efforts of its citizens in maintaining yards and outdoor spaces.
