Responsibilities

The Assistant Town Manager/Director of Planning is charged with the responsibility of supporting the Town Manager on the administration of the Town and the Town's facility and infrastructure projects. He also serves as supervisor to the Town Treasurer, Director of Parks and Recreation, Town Engineer, Director of Public Information, and Director of Museums.

His job responsibilities include serving as the Director of Planning assigned to the Town Planning Commission and the Board of Architectural Review. He acts as an ex-officio member of the Recreation Commission and secretary to the Wall of Honor Committee.

The Office of the Assistant Town Manager/Director of Planning is committed to providing quality administrative and planning services to the members of the Town Council and to the citizens of the Town of Wytheville. The Assistant Town Manager/Director of Planning stays abreast of the current planning issues by being a member of the Citizens Planning Education Association of Virginia, the VAPA, and attending planning seminars such as the Commonwealth Land Use and Zoning Conference. The Assistant Town Manager/Director of Planning stays abreast of local government issues through his membership in the ICMA and VLGMA.

Stephen A. Moore was employed by the Town in 1990. He is a licensed architect, a member of the American Institute of Architects, a Certified Planning Commissioner, and holds a NCARB certificate.
